Throughout Trainer Classes, defensive movements will be indicated by the top target lighting up alongside an audible cue from your trainer.
Duck
Move straight down facing the Liteshield through a soft bend in the knees. Hands always stay up. It may help to imagine you’re dodging targets 1 and 2.
Slips
Seemingly simple, the slip is a small, sassy, yet effective defensive move that requires oblique control. Slipping forward and backwards means getting your head out of the center line so you protect the money-maker! A forward slip means moving your back shoulder forward slightly and moving your head towards your lead-hand side. A backward slip requires you to engage your rear obliques and shift your lead shoulder forward towards the Liteshield and move your rear shoulder backwards towards your back hip. Your trainer will tell you when and in which direction to slip, and, like all defensive moves, the top target will light up when it’s time to get out of the way!
Roll
A roll is similar to a duck but with a transfer of weight to the front or back. Aim for a fluid weight shift in rolls while keeping your hands in guard position. It may help to think about a roll like you’re trying to move your head under a clothesline as you shift your weight from front to back. Pull your belly button back to your spine, keep your chin down and your eyes up!
